The only prediction we will make is that when the anger does explode, it’s going to be contradictory and messy. It’s going to be a bumpy ride and if we’re going to make any headway, we need to have our wits about us and be flexible and creative in how we react in what will be a turbulent and complex situation.
Reacting to change…
We talk a lot about radical change and why it’s needed. Sometimes, it’s useful to pause and consider what we really mean by radical change.
Change comes from the base
Action for change in our communities happens because residents see a need and have lost faith in the ability or willingness of the authorities to act. There are plenty of examples where residents are doing this without any prompt from a movement or an organisation.
The calm before the storm?
Trying to keep on top of the multiple crises that are the component parts of the shitshow we’re having to endure at the moment is getting harder and harder. The temptation to zone out and try to live the best life we can under the circumstances can be pretty overwhelming at times.
Using your fingerprint/face to pay for your shopping
Over the last couple of years, a number of people, including now former comrades, have told us we’re conspiracy theorists. Conspiracy theorists? Really? Accurate forecasters would be more like it!
Some thoughts on resisting the Fourth Industrial Revolution
One of the key aspects of the 4IR that we’re dealing with is that of disassociation… That’s disassociation from nature which we’re supposed to be a part of but instead, have exploited to the point where it may not be able to properly sustain us in the future.
Ukraine War! What Is It Good For? Propaganda (Part 4)
military operation” in Ukraine has been presented to us, in the West, as unprovoked and unjustified. We have not been told about Russia’s legitimate security concerns in the face of NATO expansionism.
Drowning in a tsunami of virtue signalling
Ever since Russia started its incursion into Ukraine, anyone questioning the simplistic narrative of ‘I stand with Ukraine’ and pointing out the complexities of the situation is being vilified as a ‘Putin bot’.
Divided We Stand
Should the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill pass through the House of Lords in it’s entirety this country will have goose stepped via legislation into a dictatorship…
Where the heck are we?
It would appear that the government has realised that leveraging the Covid crisis as a means of bringing about the changes needed to usher in the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) is starting to run out of steam.
Situation report – January 2022
Yet again, I’m going to attempt to summarise where we are in an increasingly weird and dystopian situation. Yet again, I realise that what I’m now writing could in weeks…days even…be overtaken by events. I’m persisting in producing these situation reports because they help me to marshal my thoughts in a bid to try and understand what’s happening.
“Humanity stands together” – a photo essay of a protest
Out on the streets on Saturday 18.12, there were anti-vaxxers marching alongside the double and in some cases, the triple jabbed. There were army veterans marching alongside ravers from the 80s and 90s. There were white working class people marching alongside black and Asian working class people.
Breaking and re-making us
One part of the strategy and tactics being deployed against us is persuading a significant chunk of the populace to do the dirty work of divide and rule for you. Having an atomised, frightened populace makes the project of breaking and re-making us that much easier. Atomisation is a key part of the process.
2021 – spiralling down | 2022 – ‘interesting’
Do you remember March of 2020 when it was ‘just three weeks to flatten the curve’? We do although given how far back that is now, the memory is not exactly an immediate one. It’s not even two years ago but it feels like a lot longer than that as we unwillingly become acclimatised to a new (ab)normal.
It’s complicated…
We can’t help but notice the demonisation of anyone opposing vaccine passports, digital or paper, as so called ‘anti-vaxxers’. It would be too easy to dismiss this demonisation as lazy, uniformed thinking. That would be wrong because this is part of a strategy of divide and rule.
Situation report – November 2021
Taking a step back, it’s clear the rollout of vaccine passports is going to be a classic case of mission creep. It starts off with concerts and nightclubs, it will be moving onto pubs and restaurants and before you know it, supermarkets. It moves from what people are willing to sacrifice for the sake of principle to what they need to survive.
Putting the skids under the vaccine passports
Plenty of people have said that they’ve no intention of going to a concert, sports event, restaurant or pub if they have to show a vaccine passport, paper or digital. That includes a fair few double jabbed people as well as the un-jabbed. That will be a lot of people engaging in the tactic of boycotting.
Can the roll out of vaccine passports in the UK be halted?
This can be won but we have to focus on the bigger picture and not get sidetracked. Getting tied up in debates on specific issues such as masking, who should and shouldn’t be getting jabbed and the like will result in losing sight of the bigger picture.
